Resume & Interview Advice

Resume Tips

It is important to write a resume that reflects your experience and talents with clarity and precision. Below are several tips and templates to help you create your resume.

• Your resume should generally be no longer than one page with standard fonts (e.g., Times New Roman) and font sizes (e.g., between 10 and 12 points, with headings no larger than 14 points) and one-inch margins.

• Never use jargon (industry-specific words) in your resume.

• Your contact information (e.g., home address, cell phone number, and e-mail address) should always be on the top of the resume. Please make sure that your voicemail message(s) and e-mail address are business-appropriate.

• Always bring at least two copies of your resume to every job interview: one for the person interviewing you and one for yourself so that each of you can look over your resume at the same time.

Interview Tips

Your interview is a chance for a potential employer to learn about your talents and what you have to offer and for you to learn about the career opportunities with them. In general, a good interview should be like a conversation with someone you find interesting. Make sure that you have prepared for the interview by learning about the company´s background, asking your Temps On Time career advisor about the company, and reviewing your resume and past experiences.
